Then I sent him the following, read after that discussion (which was basically my suggestion that Brady is more of a known quantity with the coaching stabilty plus an upgrade in receivers, whereas Vick is going to play for a new coach who may or may not let him improvise with the rush. ron mexico without rushing yards is an average, if not sub-average, fantasy QB):

Gregg,

don't know if you made it through the sporting news beat writers yet.
the following is relevant to our discussion of how petrino will impact
vick. I wonder if "intermediate" includes rolling out, which Vick
seemed pretty good at if memory serves, although I wonder if they were
basically broken plays where receivers are supposed to all go on
option routes when ron mexico takes off. he did find crumpler on
those roll outs, whether improvised or not, as well as roddy white
the problem overall, however, is uncertainty. I bet Petrino had a
great pitch about how to utilize vick in the interview and he'll
probably try all sorts of stuff in the first 5 games, and then build
on what works from that sample. and it is impossible to reliably
predict that.

"OFFENSIVE ADJUSTMENTS:The Falcons' offense was the most out of kilter
operation in the league last season after finishing first in rushing
and last in passing. The shift from Jim Mora/Greg Knapp's hybrid West
Coast system to first-year coach Bobby Petrino's "power spread" attack
is more than just a nip and tuck job. It's a major overhaul with the
objective of pushing the unit back toward some semblance of balance.
The cut-blocking running scheme is out in favor of a more
power-oriented approach. Free-agent FB Ovie Mughelli was signed to
pave the way for RBs Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood. The disjointed
passing attack has been scrapped in favor of more intermediate and
deep passing routes that will require much-improved pass blocking from
the offensive line. Petrino's style at Louisville was to run the same
plays out of multiple formations."

Come to me, Joe Thomas

My optimism is building that Joe Thomas will drop to Arizona. She is a diehard Cowboys fan, but is still easing her way into familiarity with the insular universe of fantasy football. And in space noone can hear you scream. Which I frequently do on Sundays during the 16 weeks of the fantasy season. I had thought about starting a blog for fun as I really enjoy Gregg Rosenthal's rotoworld blog and thought I might chip in. this thought on Joe Horn seemed as good a time as any to get started

"probably not, unless I there were slim pickings late. Joe Horn in 2007 is a stone cold flier, or a pick that is so late that you don't really care if it pans out or not. Essentially somebody you envision waiving (or sent to the Well of Souls, a wonderful phrase coined by a fellow coach Mike a few years back). I would draft several defensive players before horn. my approach is to only pay early round prices for clear number one receivers in a proven offense that have been with a team for a couple of years supported by coaching/QB stability and (almost as important) bad defenses where the team has to throw the ball more than average as they are down two touchdowns in the first half. joe horn does not satisfy any of those tests (new head coach, new offense, good defense, no clear number one, etc.) I'd say horn will be a number 2/3 receiver behind former first round picks roddy white and alge crumpler who vick will look to first. horn's salary is basically for being an asst coach to mentor the young receivers (and vick) by teaching work ethic, teamwork, heart, etc. that's valuable to the falcons, but not to the cognomen [ed. note- My primary fantasy team name is the Woodford-Cognomen]
